Real Stories from Real Florists
We've watched people walk through our doors unsure if they belonged in floristry — and leave months later running their own businesses, working at top studios, or simply creating beautiful arrangements that make them genuinely happy. These aren't polished marketing stories. They're honest accounts from people who put in the work.
Our Journey Since 2018
What started as informal weekend workshops in a cramped Manchester studio has grown into something we're proud of. Here's how we got here — the milestones that mattered.
The Beginning
Ulrico taught his first proper workshop to six people in a rented studio space. Half didn't show up. The other three stayed until midnight arranging and rearranging centrepieces. That's when we knew there was something here worth pursuing.
Adapting Through Challenges
When everything shut down, we pivoted to online demonstrations and home kit deliveries. Students practiced from their kitchens. It wasn't perfect, but it kept people connected to the craft during a difficult period. We learned flexibility matters.
Opening Our Permanent Space
After years of borrowing studios and working out of temporary spaces, we finally opened our own teaching facility on Bloom Street. Proper workbenches. Dedicated cold storage. Room to actually move around. It changed everything about how we could teach.
Reaching 400 Students
This summer we hit 400 people who've been through our programs. Some went professional. Others kept it as a serious hobby. A few now teach floristry themselves. Seeing that ripple effect never gets old.
What's Next
We're launching advanced business modules in August 2026 for students ready to go commercial. Also planning quarterly masterclasses with visiting florists from across Europe. The goal stays the same — help people get genuinely good at this craft.
From Complete Beginner to Studio Owner
Ingrid Bjørnstad joined our foundation course in early 2024 with zero floristry background. She'd spent fifteen years in finance and wanted something completely different. The transition wasn't smooth — she nearly quit after the third session because her arrangements "looked like chaos."
But she stuck with it. Took extra practice sessions. Started helping with weekend workshops. By December 2024, she was assisting with beginner classes. This past spring, she opened a small studio in Chorlton focusing on sustainable local flowers.
"I still remember Ulrico telling me my first bouquet looked like I'd dropped it down the stairs. He wasn't wrong. But he also showed me exactly what to fix, and why it mattered. That honest feedback was what I needed."
Voices from Our Students
These are excerpts from conversations we've had with people who've been through our programs. We asked them to be honest about what worked and what didn't.
Saskia van der Berg
Event FloristThe seasonal workshop series changed how I approach weddings. I learned which flowers actually hold up in summer heat and which wilt within hours. That practical knowledge saved me from multiple disasters during wedding season.
Henrik Tamm
Studio AssistantI appreciated that Ulrico doesn't sugarcoat things. When my wiring technique was sloppy, he told me straight. Then showed me how to fix it. That directness helped me improve faster than if everyone had just been polite about mediocre work.
Eleni Papadakis
Hobbyist FloristI never planned to work professionally — I just wanted to arrange flowers for my own home. The beginner course gave me exactly what I needed without pushing me toward commercial work. Sometimes people just want to learn a skill for themselves.
Ready to Start Your Own Journey?
Our next foundation program begins in September 2026. We keep groups small so everyone gets proper attention. If you're curious about floristry and willing to put in the practice time, we'd like to meet you.
